From Backyard First Looks to Coastal Adventure: Michaela & Josh’s California Elopement
Backyard First Look & Champagne
The day began in the most relaxed and personal way possible: at home. Michaela and Josh got ready at home and shared their first look in their backyard, with their dog happily circling around them. There were no crowds or distractions—just the two of them, soaking in the moment. A pop of champagne kicked off the celebration, because yes, even elopements deserve a toast.
From Courthouse to Canyon
Some wedding days are full of tradition. Michaela and Josh’s? It was full of intention. These two had already said "I do" at the courthouse a few months before, but wanted to celebrate their love in a way that truly reflected who they are—laid-back, adventurous, and madly in love. What started as plans for a big wedding in Tennessee turned into an intimate and unforgettable elopement right in their home city of Los Angeles.
A Dress from Etsy & Vows in Converse
Michaela wore a stunning dress she found on Etsy—proving that you don’t need a designer label to look like a dream bride. And when it came time to hike into the canyon? She slipped on a pair of Converse. The combo of effortless style and adventure-ready vibes was peak elopement energy.
We drove up the Pacific Coast Highway, stopping at random spots to soak in the views and snap some photos along the way. Eventually, we hiked into a quiet canyon where Michaela and Josh read private vows to each other—just the two of them (and their pup), surrounded by sunshine and stillness.
Sunset on the Beach
As the sun dipped low, we made our way to the coast and spent golden hour chasing the last bit of light. There’s something magical about taking beach photos at sunset—especially when the couple in front of the camera is this in love.
There Are No Rules to Weddings
Michaela and Josh’s day wasn’t about timelines, seating charts, or big guest lists. It was about doing what felt right for them—trading tradition for something simple, beautiful, and wildly personal. And it’s a good reminder that weddings don’t need to follow any specific timeline or tradition. Make it your own.
